Ride for the Roses

A celebration of the Thoroughbred breed and retired racehorses

2018 Show Dates: October 20 & 21, 2018

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Prodigious Fund to recognize and support positive efforts made by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Community for re-homing, promotion and care of retired racehorses.

Online entries are now closed but Day-of-Show entries are welcome. Please download a printable entry form and bring it with you (or fill one out in the Show Office).

Show Office Hours:
Friday 3:00pm – 7:00pm
Saturday 7:00am – 4:00pm
Sunday 7:00am – end of show

Stabling for entries received after Tuesday 9/26/17 will be assigned in the Show Office.

SATURDAY – September 30, 2017

9:00am – Halter & Western Rail Classes

10:00am – 2:00pm – Trail Classes from

At lunch time we will hold a Lead Line class & a Track Professionals Class; If you hold a license (Jockey, Trainer, Exercise Rider, Owner, etc…) at the track you can enter this in either English or Western gear at a Walk/Trot/Canter or Walk/Jog/Lope.

1:00pm – English Rail Classes

1:00pm – Eventing Combined will open in the Jumper Arena: Classes 701-705
Followed by Enhanced Jumping: Classes 801-810

Following the last classes we will award our Day 2 High Point Awards, Grand Champion & Reserve Champions of the show.

The Cook Shack & Stirrup-a-Cup Espresso Bar will be open both days.

High Point Notes

The following High Point Awards are based on accumulated points earned in class placing & will be presented at the Awards Dinner on Saturday evening:

  • High Point Western Pleasure OTTB
  • High Point Jr. Western Pleasure
    • Eligible Classes: 1, 3, 4,5, 6-11, 13-17, 19-21, 40-42
  • High Point Western Pleasure Half-Thoroughbred
    • Eligible Classes: 2,3,5,7,8,9,12,14,15,18,20,21,40-42
  • High Point English Pleasure OTTB
  • High Point Jr. English Pleasure
    • Eligible Classes: 1, 3, 4,5, 24-29,31-35, 37-42
  • High Point English Pleasure Half-Thoroughbred
    • Eligible Classes: 2,3,5,25,26,27,30,32,33,36,38,39-42
  • High Point In-Hand
    • Eligible Classes 1-5 & 40-42

SUNDAY AWARDS will be announced upon completion of the last class. Please join us for a celebration of our Champions at the end of the show.

The following Divisional High Point Awards are given to the Highest Score or Placing in each of the following divisions:

  • Dressage – Intro Level
  • Dressage – First Level
  • Dressage – Second/Third/Fourth Level
  • Dressage – Western
  • Dressage – Musical Freestyle
  • Dressage – Jr. Rider
  • Hunters – Inchworm (Ground Poles)
  • Hunters – Grasshopper (Cross Rails)
  • Hunters – Dragonfly (18” to 24”)
  • Hunters – Hawk (2’3”)
  • Hunters – Eagle (2’6”)
  • Jumpers – Jr. Rider

The Championship Awards celebrate the versatility of the Thoroughbred Breed and Bloodlines and are calculated on the following criteria:

  • Based on accumulated points earned by class placing
  • Must show both days (Saturday & Sunday)
  • For single Horse/Rider Pairs (multiple rider scores do not accumulate for the horse’s rank)
  • 2017 Ride for the Roses Grand Champion (Highest overall all point total)
  • Reserve Champion (Second highest overall point total)
  • High Point OTTB (must be Jockey Club registered or lip tattoed)
  • High Point Overall Half-Thoroughbred (for horses who have one Thoroughbred parent)
  • High Point Green Horse (Two or less years since last race)
  • High Point War Horse (Raced at least 25 times or have more than $100,000 in lifetime earnings)
  • High Point Junior Rider (Rider 17 or under)
  • High Point Senior Rider (Rider 18 or over)

• Proof of Jockey Club registration for all Thoroughbred classes (lip tattoo or copy of registration papers)
• Half-Thoroughbreds or non-registered with one Jockey Club registered parent may compete in Open classes.
